Trent Blare
Assistant Professor, Food and Resource Economics
Dr. Blare’s extension and research program examines the potential for small scale growers to expand their current markets and gain access to new ones. He applies innovative behavioral economic techniques and experiments to determine consumers interest in fruits and vegetables and to examine how to improve agricultural supply chains to enhance growers’ income while ensuring consumers have greater access to a more diverse, nutritious diet. A key component of Dr. Blare’s program is working closely with growers, extension agents, processors, retailers, consumers, and regulators in developing agricultural supply chains that are inclusive of the poor, women, youth, and ethnic minorities. Dr. Blare is located at the Tropical Research and Education Center, Homestead, FL.
