    Research summary

The aim is to assess the effectiveness of Ceres tags in aiding pastoralists with two key aspects:

    1. Resource Monitoring and Management, where real-time data from the tags provide information on livestock location and behavior, enabling efficient resource management decisions such as tracking animal movements and identifying suitable grazing areas and water sources. This empowers pastoralists to make informed choices regarding herd movements, ensuring access to adequate forage and water.
    2. Animal Health Monitoring, where the data collected by the Ceres tag sensors, such as activity levels, and animal interactions helps in evaluating the overall health status of individual animals and the herd. This allows pastoralists to detect early signs of illness, stress, and heat detection, facilitating timely intervention and reducing the risk of disease outbreaks.

The project will focus on one ranch (West Kilimanjaro ranch located in Kilimanjaro region) and two pastoral districts - Simanjiro and Handeni districts.
