    Project Highlight

    Precision Livestock Farming

The Precision Livestock Farming Technologies Evaluation in Africa (PLF) is a 3-year project (2023–2025) funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania, as the main partner. This project aims to tackle production challenges in smallholder dairy farms and pastoral systems in northern Tanzania by utilizing cutting-edge technologies like the SmaXtec bolus and Ceres tag. These innovations offer real-time monitoring of livestock health, feed intake, and performance, enabling improved management and sustainability.
