Summary of Activities

Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) are established around various institutions, such as universities, factories, or dairy cooperatives, to provide services aimed at enhancing performance and adoption of digital innovations. In the African context, the adoption of PLF innovations faces challenges due to underdeveloped digital infrastructure and a lack of skilled manpower. To address these issues, a PLF innovation hub will be established in Arusha Tanzania at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). The main activities of the PLF Hub at NM-AIST will include:

  • Establishment of a living lab.
  • Training extension officers.
  • Leveraging existing farmers' association groups to deliver training programs and demonstrations to a broader audience.
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Development of a dedicated data center service tailored to the needs of farmers, and
  • Supporting livestock digital innovation experiments and research aimed at assisting livestock keepers.
